The Chicago Stars will call a new stadium home for the 2026 season - Northwestern University's Martin Stadium.

The club is taking the stadium for a test run at a match this weekend - the Wintrust Lakefront Faceoff.

From the Chicago Stars website: “This move to Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in 2026 marks a historic step for the club and a new era for the Chicago Stars,” said Chicago Stars President, Karen Leetzow.  “This is just one step in a series of changes, including the recent hiring of renowned head coach, Martin Sjogren, exciting international player acquisitions and other incredible initiatives that are soon to be announced and will set the club on a new trajectory. I invite fans from around the Chicagoland area to join us September 7 to get a preview of 2026 and to sign up for season ticket memberships next year to join us on this next great journey.”

The Stars have struggled with low attendance, something the club's majority owner partly blames on stadium location. While the club explores building its own stadium, they announced the move to Martin Stadium. (Something to note - Chicago Fire FC, a MLS club, announced earlier this year that it is building a 22,000-seat stadium, expected to open in 2028. There's no word on whether the Stars will also play there.)

Martin Stadium sits on the shore of Lake Michigan, and that view is TOP NOTCH. The stadium is also much easier to get to than SeatGeek Stadium. Public transportation, bike trails and on-campus parking are all readily available.
