Here was the schedule for Friday through Sunday, October 10-12, 2025, in the league, now with recaps and all times shown were eastern.
Oh and Why the headline? Three points now separate the No. 3 (Orlando with 36) to No. 8 seeds (now Racing Louisville FC with 33) as we conclude the week. No. 2 Washington has (44) separated themselves from the pack a bit.
But no team, if they're being honest, wants to open the playoffs facing No. 1 Kansas City (62 points).

Lynn Family Stadium on NWSL+ at 7:30 p.m.
There were a pair of goals late in this one, first by Chicago's Jameese Joseph (85' from Chaćon) from the middle of the box to the bottom left corner. It looked like the Stars were going to pick up their 3rd win of the season for the next 8 minutes until Louisville's Bethany Balcer (90+3') finished the goal off a perfect through ball (a leading pass toward the goal) from Janine Sonis.
For Louisville, it meant the move to the No. 7 spot (at least on Friday night) and for Chicago it meant they've now ties for the all-time NWSL record for draws in a season with 11. One more and they break that meaningless stat.
Orlando Pride vs. Portland Thorns FC Pride, 1-0
Inter&Co Stadium on Prime Video at 8:00 p.m.
The only way this blogger can think of to describe how this one ended is: With a dagger to their collective heart, the Thorns gave up an own goal (90+2) two minutes into the 10 additional that were added for stoppage time. The match-winner was charged to Portland's Mallie McKenzie and Orlando, last year's champion squad, vaulted into No. 3 on the table.
Seattle Reign FC vs. Bay FC Draw, 1-1
Lumen Field on NWSL+ / P+ at 10:30 p.m.
Bay scored first, when Taylor Huff (31') emerged from a corner cluster, in close, to tap the cross (assist to Kundananji) into the back of the net. That lead held until Seattle's Jess Fishlock (84') re-directed a Fishel-shot that was blocked and the put-back goal equalized.

Kansas City Current vs. Gotham FC Current, 2-0
CPKC Stadium on ION at 5:00 p.m.
The Current kept rolling as it got goals by Bia Zaneratto (34' headed in off a cross from Rodriguez, following a cross) and by league leader, Temwa Chawinga (51') with an assist credited to Zaneratto. Chawinga now has 15 goals on the season, leading Gotham's Esther (13).
NC Courage vs. Washington Spirit Draw, 1-1
First Horizon Stadium on ION at 7:30 p.m.
Spirit's Trinity Rodman (52') awoke the scoreboard operator when she lifted a goal into the top left corner off a pass and assist from Hershfelt. The lead lasted until Courage's Shinomi Koyama (86' unassisted) hit the net in the bottom right corner to equalize.
Utah Royals FC vs. San Diego Wave FC Wave, 3-2
America First Field on NWSL+ / P+ at 10:00 p.m.
The late one featured five goals! Utah got on the board when Janni Thomsen (9') scored, assist to Rábano. San Diego equalized when Dudinha (29') scored, assist to Cascarino. The Royals suffered an OG (45+1' conceded by Kate Del Fava) one minute into stoppage time in the first half, so the Wave took a 2-1 lead into the half.
Utah's Mina Tanaka (54' unassisted) equalized and got the crowd back in it, 2-2. That set up the winning goal from Wave's Kenza Dali (72' from Lundkvist) to conclude the scoring and give San Diego 3 points from the visit, just ahead of Portland in the No. 6 spot by virtue of scoring differential.

Angel City FC vs. Houston Dash Angel City, 2-0
BMO Stadium on ESPN at 5:00 p.m.
Los Angeles got second half goals from Kennedy Fuller (53') finishing a fast break with the score. They tacked on another when Maiara Niehues (86') used her right foot at the center of the box from an Endo headed pass, assist, following another fast break and survived 10 minutes of added time to emerge with 3 much-needed points and keep them relevant for a playoff spot.
