Boston Legacy has been busy the past few weeks - signing its first player and a new head coach.

The team announced earlier this week that midfielder Annie Karich joined the team on a multi-year deal through 2027, with an option for 2028. Karich is joining the team as a free agent from FC Freiburg in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

Karich has quite the history on the field. Before going pro, she played at Santa Clara University where she was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. She's also represented the U.S. at the U-15 through U-23 levels and was part of the 2022 U-20 Women's World Cup roster.

She will finish up the 2025 season on loan to a Liga MX Femenil club and will take the field with Legacy when the team starts play in 2026.

Last month, the team named Filipa Patao as the first head coach. Patao led Liga BPI, Portugal's top-flight women's soccer league, to five consecutive league titles, domestic cup success and a breakthrough UEFA Women's Champions League campaign. The team made a 2023-24 quarterfinal appearance, the first for any Portuguese club.

You can learn more about Karich, Patao and the Boston Legacy FC franchise on the team's website.
